Criteria C

Product: The product we will be selling is cookie dough. We will be serving a 70g scoop of cookie dough into ice cream cones. Our cookie dough will be egg free and will use milk instead. Furthermore our cookie dough uses mini milk chocolate chips to ensure that the balance and texture enjoyable. Our cookie dough will have around 430 kcl per 1 ½ scoops, and 121 kcal for half a scoop. People will be able to decide how much cookie dough they would like - as well as toppings (Eg, sprinkles, sauce etc).

Price: For the price of our product we decided on 2.50 for several reasons. Firstly, based on the feedback we received most of our peers thought that it was the most reasonable price. Additionally, from the researched we had done we saw the prices other companies have and based ours on that. Lastly, we also ensured that with this price we will still be able to make profit off of our product.

Place: We will be selling our cookie dough in 2 different places. Firstly we will be selling it in our school for the halcyon community. We will sell it as a dessert after lunch for people to fulfill their sweet tooth. Furthemore, we will sell it at the top of the stairs where people exit the lunch hall; this is so that it is certain people will see our product at the right time. The other place where we will sell is in mine (meera's) neighbourhood. A day before we sell, we will hand out our posters to people so that when we return the next day, we can sell. Our cookie dough will be manufactured in mine (meera's) house when we sell in the neighbourhood, and will be manufactured in Chili's house when we sell in school.

Promotion: To promote our product we will make posters and put them up through the whole school. Moreover, we will hand them out to people the day before we sell to make sure they have cash or a card ready. The main colour theme for our posters will be pink and white to match our overall company and product. With this poster, our aim is to attract people with the eye catching imagine of our cookie dough in the middle. The advertisement will have the price, brand name and slogan on it.

Borough Market Trip:

We went on a trip to boruough market before our fair in oirder to see how people succesfully sell food. We found out from the business which sells chocolate covered strawberries that giving samples and asking people for feedback helps both your buisness and your product. They said that giving samples helps bring in customers. Additionally, the business ‘humble crumble’ said that many people visit their stall due to hype from their social media and advertisements. This showed us the importance of advertising and how it can sisgnifcanlty impact your number of sales.

Product testing

Modifications before enterprise fair:

- One of the things we decided to change was the feature of the cookie dough being dipped in chocolate. When product testing, we spontaneously decided to see how the cookie dough bite would look at and taste when dipped in chocolate. Once we had done this, we fell in love with the idea (as well as family members which we asked for feedback). That is also then when we came up with idea to put our cookie dough in a mini cupcake case. Therefore, we decided to sell all of our cookie dough like this.

- Something which we did was we changed our packaging. Originally, we used ice cream cones for our cookie dough balls. However, now that we've decided to dipped them in chocolate, we've switched to cupcake holders for better presentation and practicality. This change also meant updating our poster to match the new look. We advertised the cookie dough bites as they will look in the real thing. In our specifcation when talking about the materials we did not decide to cover them completely in chocolate. This is because we did not want it to be too sweet. So, we decided to put less chcolate on the inside so that there is a good balance.

- Some of our family members gave us feedback after we did our product testing. Chili's dad said that he thinks that the cookie dough base was overly sweet, so we decided that the next time we make it we will put less sugar than the recipe says. As well, make sure the dough to chocolate ratio works better, to ensure no one will feel sick. On the other hand Meera's mum said that the rocks of sugar were too big and made the texture of the cookie dough unenjoyable. For the future, we will use more refined sugar to have a smoother consistency.

Our profits:

Overall we sold the most and made the most money in profit. Although we only used £13 out of the 20 pounds which the school gave us, we ended up spending some of our own money when buying ingredients. This is because there were certain items such as milk, butter etc which we could not order off amazon and had to order fresh from a grocery story. This means that we did not profit the full £146. We actually ended up profiting £135 pounds which when divided equally means we profited £67.5. We are both extremely happy with the outcome.

Modifications after eneterprise fair:

- When making our cookie dough for the fair we changed 2 things. Firstly, we changed the size of the cookie dough to a ball which was 85g. We did this so that people had more cookie dough and got better value for their money. As well, the first time we sold the cookie dough we got the feedback that the portion size should've been bigger. After our product testing and feedback, from those that tried it, we decided to change the size of our product. This linked to the cost and size in our speciation because we made sure that our customers would get good value for the price they were paying and ensured we will make profit.

- Another thing we changed was that all of the cookie dough balls were drizzled in white chocolate instead of submerged. Furthermore we did not do any drizzling with milk chocolate as we already has milk chocolate chips inside. In the modification we said that we changed the look of our cookie dough ball by drizzling the chocolate on top instead of fully submerging it. This links to the aesthetics and quality of our product because by changing this it made sure our product had the right ratio of each ingredient and it also made our product more aesthetically pleasing to look at.

- As well we also didn't include any toppings on top of our cookie dough. We did this as we thought it would be too sweet. Furthermore this affected our table set up as we didn't need any of the bowls with the toppings. Another thing we changed about the table was that we displayed our 'Michi's' sign on the table rather than displayed behind and above us. Additonally, we used a silver sequin tablecloth instead of using a pink tablecloth with frills. This was due to availability. Finally we did not have any tissues on our table as we felt that it was unecessary. In our specification, under the point about aesthetics, we spoke about our table layout. We said that we would keep the colours used on our table cohesive with out brand. However, our sequin table cloth did not match the colour palette of our brand; yet, we feel that it added an exciting elemnt to our table.

- For our advertisement the only thing we changed was the way the cookie dough was shown on the poster. So, instead of having the cookie dough ball on the ice cream cone we put it in a cupcake holder instead. We did this to make it more realistic to our actual product and our clients would be able to see what they were purchasing. This relates to our speicifation point ‘target market’.

How did these changed affect our target audience?

These changes significantly impacted our target audince. Firstly, by not submerging our cookie dough balls in chocolate (and drizzling the chcolate on top instead) it meant that adults thought it didn’t look overly sweet. Therefore, they were more inclined to buy it. As well, by chaning the size it overall increased the amount of people buying our cookie dough as people felt that they were gettign a better value for their money. Finally by adding the sequin table cloth is helped our table look more visually appealing and stick out from the rest. This caught the eyes of all ages (both young and old) helping to attract customers to our stall. Overall, we think that the modifications we made beneffited us in many ways.
